Scrapping of Land Pooling Policy a Historic Victory for Akali Dal and People of Punjab – Brahmpura

Tarn Taran – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Vice President and former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura on Monday described the Punjab ‘AAP’ government’s decision to withdraw the controversial land pooling policy as a historic victory for the relentless struggle of the SAD, and the farmers and common people of Punjab.
Brahmpura, who is the SAD in-charge for the Khadoor Sahib constituency, stated that the government was ultimately forced to kneel before public outrage and the pressure mounted by the Akali Dal.
“This decision is clear proof that whenever any government acts against the interests of Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal will stand as a shield for Punjabis and never allow its designs to succeed,” said Brahmpura. “Under the leadership of SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal, the party vehemently opposed this anti-farmer ‘black law’ from day one, terming it a deep conspiracy to benefit corporate houses. Today, the government’s retreat completely vindicates our stand.”
Launching a sharp attack on the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government, Brahmpura alleged that the administration intended to usurp the fertile lands of Punjab’s farmers at the behest of its “masters in Delhi.” He credited the SAD’s state-level agitation, the hard work of party workers, and overwhelming public opposition for compelling the government to retract its “anti-people” decision.
“We had already warned that we would intensify our struggle if this policy was not repealed. The stay imposed on this policy by the Hon’ble High Court was the first victory of our struggle, and now its complete withdrawal has proven that arrogant governments must eventually bow before people’s power,” he asserted.
Brahmpura extended his gratitude to the people of Punjab, particularly the farming community. “I thank all the brave people of Punjab who placed their trust in their mother-party, the Shiromani Akali Dal. This victory belongs to our collective struggle,” he said.
He affirmed that as the sole regional party of Punjabis, the SAD will continue to safeguard Punjab’s interests and stand as a sentinel against “forces operating on instructions from Delhi.
