New Delhi-Padma Shri Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), has confirmed that the seven Punjabi youth stranded near Dushanbe, Tajikistan, will be safely repatriated to India on Monday. These youth had sent a distress video on 19th October alleging they were misled by an agent in India and were facing severe mistreatment by their employers in Rogan town.
Dr. Sahney stated that the safety and dignity of every Indian abroad is paramount. He immediately took up the matter with our Embassy in Tajikistan and extended full support to ensure their safe return.
Following the distress call, Dr. Sahney’s office coordinated closely with the stranded youth, sharing their Google location and passport copies with the Indian Embassy in Tajikistan. Dr. Sahney also wrote to the Hon’ble Indian Ambassador to Tajikistan, urging swift intervention and offered to personally sponsor their air tickets to facilitate their early return.
Dr. Sahney stated that he is grateful to the Indian Embassy for their quick and proactive response. This timely intervention reflects India’s commitment to protect its citizens abroad
