Ghanaur-Under the guidance of Shiromani Akali Dal President Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal and under the leadership of Youth Akali Dal President Sardar Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar, a two-day special turban camp was successfully organized at Gurdwara Sri Nathana Sahib, Jand Mangoli (Ghanour) under the ‘Meri Dastaar Meri Shaan’ campaign dedicated to Lohri and Maghi. Yesterday, the camp was inaugurated by SGPC member Jathedar Jasmer Singh Lachhru. Today, Palwinder Singh Talwara and Bibi Parwinder Kaur (wife of Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar) specially attended.
More than 500 youth and children participated with great enthusiasm in the two-day camp, proudly adorning their turbans. Turban tying experts taught the youth how to tie a turban according to Sikh tradition and informed them about its spiritual and cultural significance.
Speaking on the occasion, SGPC member Jasmer Singh Lachhru said that “Meri Tastaar Meri Shaan” is not just a campaign, but a big movement to awaken the true spirit of Sikhism in the minds of the youth. He said that as per the vision of Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal Ji, the main objective of Youth Akali Dal is to connect the younger generation strongly with Sikhism, Sikh history, culture and high values.
Lachhru further said that “Turban is our identity, our pride and a priceless blessing bestowed by our Gurus. Turban is not just a piece of cloth, but a symbol of Sikh dignity, discipline and responsibility. It is the duty of every Sikh to protect it.”
On this occasion, Palwinder Singh Talwara appealed to the youth to become an ideal role model for the society by donning turbans, adopting Sikh lifestyle and following the principles of Guru Sahiban. He also said that Youth Akali Dal will continue to organize more such turban camps and religious-cultural activities in different parts of Punjab in the future as well.
The camp was attended by a large number of devotees and this initiative of the Youth Akali Dal was highly appreciated.
Lachhru further said, “I feel very proud to say that Shiromani Akali Dal is the only political party that is working with full dedication for Sikhism and our workers are also dedicated to the Sikh Panth. This is the reason why our youth wing has successfully hosted many camps of ‘Meri Tastaar Meri Shaan’.”
