Atrocities on poor under AAP MLA’s patronage a ‘murder of democracy’ – Brahmpura

Tarn Taran  – Condemning the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Vice President, Khadoor Sahib constituency in-charge and former MLA, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, heavily criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing local AAP leaders of unleashing terror on poor and Dalit families under the direct patronage of Khadoor Sahib MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura.
Brahmpura, accompanied by senior party leadership, visited the affected villages of Voin Poin and Dhotian today. In Voin Poin, he inspected the home of a Dalit family allegedly set on fire at gunpoint by AAP Sarpanch Harjinder Singh. Sharing the grief of the victims, Brahmpura termed the burning of homes and sacred pictures of the Sikh Gurus as a direct assault on democracy and Dr. BR Ambedkar’s Constitution, warning that such acts will not be tolerated.
Highlighting a separate incident in Dhotian, the former MLA alleged that a Dalit youth was locked in a room and brutally beaten with iron rods by the village Sarpanch and the MLA’s close relatives. He stated that individuals like Sarpanch Baldev Singh Gora and others are openly flouting the law. While an FIR has been registered following intense pressure from SAD, Brahmpura claimed that the Punjab Police, acting under severe political pressure, is deliberately avoiding the arrest of these “goons” who continue to roam freely.
“We have lost all hope for justice from the Punjab Police and the state government,” Brahmpura said. “Today, on behalf of the victim families, the Shiromani Akali Dal has submitted a formal written complaint along with complete video evidence to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) in New Delhi.”

He demanded that the NCSC immediately summon the Punjab DGP to Delhi to answer for this ongoing political hooliganism. Issuing a stern ultimatum to the administration, Brahmpura warned that if the accused—including the MLA’s brother-in-law Baldev Singh Gora, the Dhotian Sarpanch, and others—are not arrested and jailed immediately, the SAD will launch a fierce agitation.
Brahmpura was accompanied by a large number of local dignitaries, Akali workers, and villagers, notably SGPC Member Jathedar Balwinder Singh Vaein Pui, Senior SAD Leader & Vice President Jathedar Dalbir Singh Jahangir, Chairman Gursewak Singh Sekh, former Sarpanch Rajinder Singh Rajan, Panchayat Member Tasveer Singh, Dr. Rana, and Samiti Member Shamsher Singh, all of whom expressed deep resentment against the Punjab Government. – (Ends) –
