Amritsar North MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh has highlighted his efforts to facilitate the proposed inclusion of Naushehra Khurd Panchayat within the jurisdiction of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation, describing the initiative as part of his ongoing report-card series on development work.
In a social-media post titled “My Report Card: Our work speaks for itself — Series 36,” the MLA said Naushehra Khurd has increasingly acquired the characteristics of an urban locality. He said he has therefore been pursuing the matter of bringing the area under the Amritsar Municipal Corporation.
According to Singh, the process involves coordination at several administrative and political levels, from the local administration to the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He described his role as helping move the administrative process forward so that the locality’s changing urban character can be formally addressed.
Naushehra Khurd is currently a Gram Panchayat in Amritsar district under the Verka Panchayat Samiti and Amritsar Zila Parishad. The panchayat covers the village of Naushehra.
Singh has been representing Amritsar North in the Punjab Legislative Assembly since 2022. Before entering electoral politics, he served as an IPS officer in the Punjab cadre and later entered the legal profession.
The MLA’s latest report card presents the Naushehra Khurd initiative as an example of his constituency-level work, with the emphasis on completing the administrative process rather than merely announcing a proposal. His post concluded with the message: “Action speaks itself.”
Whether and when the locality is formally brought within the municipal corporation will depend on the completion of the required governmental and administrative procedures.
