New Delhi-India’s Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has eased Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, providing major relief to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and foreign nationals residing in FATF-compliant countries.
Under the revised norms, eligible investors will be able to complete digital KYC procedures from overseas without being physically present in India, making it easier to access Indian financial markets and investment opportunities.
The new rules are scheduled to come into effect on December 3, 2026. The move is expected to simplify investment procedures, reduce compliance-related difficulties and improve access to India’s capital markets for overseas investors.
The decision is being welcomed as a significant step towards making investment in India more convenient for the global Indian diaspora.
