MOGA, Punjab: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at seven locations across Punjab, including premises linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora, in connection with an alleged government land fraud and suspected misappropriation of public funds in Moga district.
The searches covered residences and properties associated with Dr Arora, her husband Dr Rakesh Arora, family members, associates and a de-addiction hospital linked to her husband. The operation is part of a money-laundering investigation registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). <Cite refs={[“turn839618search0″,”turn839618search1”]}/>
The ED investigation stems from FIR No. 101, registered by Punjab Police on June 16, 2024, at Dharmkot police station. The case concerns alleged fraudulent mutation of government land acquired for National Highway 754A and the wrongful disbursement of compensation.
According to the police complaint, land in Adraman village was acquired for the highway project. Around ₹1.006 crore in compensation was allegedly disbursed to a private beneficiary, Dilkhush Kumari, based on disputed revenue records.
The investigation alleged that government land was fraudulently shown as privately owned through manipulated land records. A forensic examination reportedly found forged signatures on mutation documents, while investigators alleged that revenue entries had been backdated to facilitate the compensation claim.
The original FIR named a patwari, Navdeep Singh, and Dilkhush Kumari. Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora and her family were not named as accused in that FIR, according to reports. <Cite refs={[“turn839618search0″,”turn839618search3”]}/>
Political reaction and investigation
AAP leaders and supporters have questioned the timing of the raids, alleging that central agencies are being used to target opposition parties ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema also accused the BJP-led central government of using agencies during election periods.
The raids come after AAP renominated Dr Arora as its candidate from Moga in the upcoming Assembly elections. The ED has not publicly established any connection between the searches and the political allegations made by AAP leaders. <Cite refs={[“turn839618search2″,”turn839618news9”]}/>
The investigation remains ongoing. The ED has not announced any arrest in connection with Wednesday’s searches, and the allegations have not been established in court. Dr Arora’s response to the latest action was not available in the reports reviewed. <Cite refs={[“turn839618search0″,”turn839618news8”]}/>
