Gurdwara Patna Sahib administration gears up for 358th Prakash Utsav of Guru Gobind Singh

Patna Sahib: Preparation is going on in full swing at Takht Shri Harmandir Saheb Gurdwara in Patna City for the three-day-long ‘Prakash Utsav’, to mark the 358th birth anniversary of the 10th and last Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh. The celebration will begin with ‘badi prabhat pheri’ (morning procession) on January 4, 2025, and conclude on January 6, with ‘Kirtan Darbar’ and ‘Akhand Path’ (uninterrupted recitation of Guru Granth Sahib).
Patna district magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh said devotees and tourists from India and abroad are expected to participate in the three-day-long celebration. “During the Prakash Utsav, there will be arrangements for accommodation, transportation, traffic management, law and order maintenance, and crowd management. The district authorities are coordinating with the Gurdwara committee to ensure all arrangements are in place,” he said.
Singh added that preparations are underway for medical facilities, drinking water, sanitation, uninterrupted power supply, fire safety and disaster management at the venue. “Crowd control and ‘May I Help You’ counters will be active at Patna Junction, Patna Sahib and other railway stations. Help desks will be set up at various locations in the Patna City area, including Kangan Ghat and Gurdwara premises,” he said.
Patna Municipal Corporation is ensuring continuous cleaning and regular fogging at all sites, including Takht Shri Harmandir Saheb Gurdwara, Patna Sahib Bhavan, Prakash Punj, Guru Ka Bagh, Bal Leela Gurudwara and tourist facility centres. A control room is operational for proper supervision of sanitation and cleaning.
