Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla met Gursharan Kaur Ji, wife of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, in Delhi and presented her with prasad and a siropa from Sri Harmandir Sahib.
During the meeting, Aujla paid tribute to the former Prime Minister, describing Dr Manmohan Singh’s honesty, simplicity and selfless service to the nation as an enduring inspiration for India.
Aujla said that attempts to place a statesman of Dr Singh’s stature in the political dock cannot erase the truth about his public life. “Time always vindicates honesty,” he said, stressing that Dr. Singh’s contribution to the country would continue to be remembered with respect.
The Congress MP also conveyed his respects to Dr Manmohan Singh’s family and prayed that Waheguru Ji keeps them in Chardi Kala.
The meeting was also significant as the presentation of prasad and siropa from Sri Harmandir Sahib carried a message of respect and remembrance for a former Prime Minister whose public image was closely associated with simplicity, humility and integrity.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, who served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, remains a prominent figure in India’s political and economic history. For his supporters, his legacy is defined not only by his economic expertise but also by his understated personal style and long public service.
Aujla’s meeting with Gursharan Kaur comes as Congress leaders continue to highlight Dr. Singh’s legacy and defend his record against political criticism, arguing that history should ultimately judge public figures on their contribution and integrity rather than the political controversies of the moment.
