Fatehgarh Sahib: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Punjab General Secretary Parminder Singh Brar on Saturday visited Fatehgarh Sahib, the starting point of the party’s second statewide anti-drug march, Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra-2, scheduled to begin on September 19. Brar was accompanied by BJP Punjab General Secretary (Organisation) Manthari Srinivas, district president Didar Singh Bhatti, KD Bhandari and other senior party leaders. The team reviewed arrangements for the upcoming rally and discussed a roadmap to turn the yatra into a large public campaign against drugs.
In a post on X, Brar said the visit focused on making the second yatra “a powerful people’s movement against the menace of drugs” and on securing “a healthier, safer future for Punjab’s youth.” He appealed for public support to build a Nasha-Mukt Punjab. The second yatra is part of a 13-day BJP campaign covering all 117 Assembly constituencies. It is scheduled to begin after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19 and will pass through constituencies including Samrala, Payal, Khanna, Amloh, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bassi Pathana, Dera Bassi, SAS Nagar, Kharar, Chamkaur Sahib, Ropar, Anandpur Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Banga and Phagwara before concluding in Jalandhar.
The first of four yatras is to be flagged off on September 18 from Ekta Sthal in Madhopur, Pathankot, by BJP national president Nitin Nabin. All four marches, covering about 4,000 km under the slogan “Bhajpa da naara, nasha mukauna saara,” are slated to converge in Jalandhar on September 30, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to address a concluding rally.
Party leaders have described the campaign as an effort to mobilise people against drugs, law-and-order problems and corruption ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Brar later also visited Khanna to review preparations along the same route.
