New Delhi/Amritsar — Congress MP from Amritsar, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, on Saturday described the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the “first victory” of India’s youth, students, and families who demanded justice over recurring examination paper leaks. In a post on X, Aujla wrote: “Today’s resignation of the Union Education Minister is the first victory of India’s youth, students, and every family that stood up for justice. This is what we fought for, and this is what people’s collective resolve can achieve. But our fight doesn’t end here. We will continue until there is complete reform of the education & examination system, accountability is fixed, and every student gets a fair chance.
”The three-term Lok Sabha member from Punjab tagged Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with the Indian Youth Congress and NSUI, underscoring the party’s support for the student-led movement. Pradhan tendered his resignation earlier on Saturday amid intense nationwide protests, largely coordinated by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and student groups, following the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy and other examination irregularities that affected millions of aspirants.
Aujla’s statement reflects the broader opposition position that while the minister’s exit marks progress, systemic changes in the National Testing Agency (NTA), stricter accountability mechanisms, and long-term reforms to prevent future leaks remain essential. The Congress MP has previously spoken out against paper leaks, including recent incidents in Punjab’s recruitment and school examinations, demanding independent probes and action against those responsible. As the government prepares to appoint a new Education Minister and implement measures such as fast-track courts for paper-leak cases, opposition voices like Aujla’s signal that pressure for comprehensive reforms will continue.
