The former MLA and constituency in-charge from Khadoor Sahib termed the decision a “major victory” for the farmers of Punjab who were continuously struggling against the “anti-farmer” policy.
In a statement, Brahmpura strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. “Instead of protecting the interests of Punjab’s farmers, the AAP government is working at the behest of its masters in Delhi,” he alleged.
Brahmpura claimed that the government was attempting to grab the fertile lands of farmers under the guise of ‘development’ while bypassing laws like the Land Acquisition Act, 2013. He recalled that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had, from the very beginning, termed the policy a “land-grabbing scheme” aimed solely at benefiting builders.
“This High Court decision is an initial lesson for those looters who are working on the directions of the AAP supremo from Delhi to grab the precious lands of Punjab,” Brahmpura said.
“The Shiromani Akali Dal will not allow this government to snatch even an inch of land from the farmers of Punjab, and our struggle will continue until this black policy is completely withdrawn,” he added
