Kamalpreet Singh, 25, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide

The semi-truck driver arrested in a deadly crash on State Route 167 in Auburn, Washington, is an illegal immigrant from India who Border Patrol apprehended after crossing the southern border and then released into the United States during the Biden administration. After being arrested for allegedly causing the fatal crash, despite having an ICE detainer filed, he was released.Washington State Patrol documents show Kamalpreet Singh, 25, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide after a three-vehicle collision Thursday morning near the SR-18 interchange that killed Robert B. Pearson, 29, of Bonney Lake.Investigators say traffic ahead had stopped when Singh’s Freightliner tractor-trailer failed to slow down and struck a stopped Mazda 3, overriding the car and pushing it underneath a Peterbilt truck. The Mazda’s engine compartment caught fire, and Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene. WSP said the roadway was blocked for nearly seven hours.
