
Today, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal, while attending the occasion, emphasized the importance of preserving Sikh values and respecting the legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Praising this initiative of the Youth Wing, the former Deputy Chief Minister said, “‘Meri Tastaar Meri Shaan’ is a wonderful effort by our Youth Akali Dal to create awareness among the youth of Punjab to bring them back to their roots and Sikhism.” The turban is the sacred crown of our heads which the Gurus have bestowed upon us all and it is our duty to preserve our culture and religious values. The priceless gift of the turban was given to us by our Gurus after many struggles and for this reason “Therefore, I applaud initiatives like ‘Meri Tastaar, Meri Shaan’ to preserve our Sikh traditions, and I also appeal to our youth to actively participate in it.”
Sukhbir Singh Badal further said, “I feel very proud to say that Shiromani Akali Dal is the only political party which is working with full dedication for Sikhism and our workers are also dedicated to the Sikh Panth. This is the reason “Our youth wing has successfully hosted several camps of ‘Meri Tastaar Meri Shaan’.”
Under the leadership of Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar and the efforts of Youth Akali Dal District Presidents Kamaldeep Singh and Hasrat Singh Kular, turbans of hundreds of devotees were decorated here today at Sri Damdama Sahib, a symbol of Sikh pride and heritage.
“On this holy day, we honour the legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji who gave us the Khalsa Panth and Sikhism, which we strive to carry forward. Our ‘Meri Tastaar, Meri Shaan’ initiative aims to inspire the youth “To inspire them to be proud of their Sikh heritage and Sikh values,” said Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar, Youth President.
Jhinjhar further said, “Till date, more than 25,000 youth have been provided free turbans through the ‘Turban Langar’ organized at many places in Punjab, which has been possible only due to the immense grace of Guru Sahib. This is due to the grace of Guru Sahib.” It is a result of blessings that we have been able to successfully organize these free camps and many youth have also promised us in these camps that they will now start tying turbans regularly and it is also a pleasure to say that many of them “Has also successfully done the spell.”
Manjit Kaur, a resident of Bathinda, who had come to pay obeisance at Damdama Sahib along with her family, said, “I consider myself very lucky that today I am able to visit this holy place on the special occasion of the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.” And got my son’s turban tied. This initiative by the Youth Akali Dal heroes to tie turbans for free is a very inspiring step and I thank them for this and also hope that all these children whose turbans were tied today will “They are leaving, now they will take a vow to always wear a turban.”
