WYOMING: A Punjabi Sikh truck driver who was reportedly violently attacked at a rest area along Interstate 80 in Wyoming is alive and receiving medical treatment, according to an update issued by the Jakara Movement.The incident occurred near the Bitter Creek rest area at mile marker 44 in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office has reportedly confirmed.
According to the latest information, the truck driver suffered multiple cuts and stab wounds during the attack. He was transported to a trauma facility for treatment. His current condition was not disclosed in the update, but the victim is reported to be alive.
Law enforcement later located a suspect in Rawlins and took the individual into custody. Authorities have not, at this stage, publicly established a motive for the attack.
The absence of a known motive has left members of the Punjabi and Sikh community seeking further information about what happened and why the truck driver was targeted. The incident has also generated concern among Punjabi truck drivers, many of whom spend long periods on the road and use interstate rest areas while working across the United States.
