BRAMPTON, ONTARIO: A 22-year-old Brampton man, Teepinder Singh Ghuman, has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of alleged retail robberies across Brampton, Peel Regional Police said. Investigators with the Central Robbery Bureau said the incidents occurred between August 14 and August 24, when five retail establishments in Brampton were allegedly targeted. According to police, in each incident, the suspect entered a business, allegedly brandished a large knife and demanded money.
Following an investigation into the string of robberies, police identified Teepinder Singh Ghuman, 22, of Brampton, as a suspect. He was arrested on August 29, police said.
Ghuman has been charged with five counts of robbery, along with six counts of disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence and one count of attempting to commit an indictable offence.
Police said Ghuman was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
The arrest follows a series of incidents that allegedly involved businesses being confronted by an armed individual, raising concerns among retail workers and the local business community. Investigators have urged anyone who may have information about the robberies or the accused’s alleged activities to come forward.
