New Delhi: Member of Parliament Vikramjit Singh Sahney participated in an interaction organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM) with senior representatives of leading American companies operating in India, as part of the engagement with the India–US Parliamentary Friendship Group.
According to Sahney, the discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade and investment and strengthening economic cooperation between India and the United States across key sectors, including aviation, defence, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, research and development, artificial intelligence, data centres and agriculture.
The interaction also addressed important areas of cooperation, such as technology transfer, increased foreign direct investment (FDI), local manufacturing and innovation. Participants discussed opportunities to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that could encourage investment, promote technological advancement and support economic growth in both countries.
Sahney emphasised the importance of balancing the opportunities created by closer economic ties with the concerns of Indian farmers and exporters. Any expansion of trade, he indicated, must take into account the interests and sensitivities of India’s agricultural sector and businesses engaged in international commerce.
The engagement highlights the role of dialogue between parliamentarians and industry representatives in identifying opportunities for collaboration and addressing concerns that may arise as economic relations develop.
India and the United States have significant areas of potential cooperation in technology, manufacturing, healthcare, defence and agriculture. Sustained engagement among policymakers and businesses can help identify practical avenues for investment, strengthen commercial links and advance shared economic interests.
The interaction formed part of broader efforts to deepen the India–US strategic partnership through trade, investment, technology and innovation.
