Where is the evidence?
If the allegation is false, the investigation should establish that clearly.If evidence exists, it should be produced before the appropriate investigating authority or court.Neither political party slogans nor character assassination can substitute for evidence.
Punjab deserves more than political theatre
Punjab has witnessed enough scandals in which allegations are made today, political accusations fly tomorrow and the public is left waiting indefinitely for the truth.That pattern cannot be allowed here.The subject is not merely ₹5 crore.The subject is whether a rape victim’s right to justice can ever be compromised by money, influence or political connections. If the allegation is completely baseless, Dr Gurpreet Kaur deserves a clear exoneration based on evidence—not merely a political defence.
If the allegation has substance, then no political position, family connection or government office should protect anyone responsible.
Justice must have neither an AAP colour nor a Congress colour nor a BJP colour. Justice must have only one colour the colour of truth.
NAPA’s position
The North American Punjabi Association believes that allegations of this magnitude should be subjected to a transparent, independent and credible investigation.NAPA does not pronounce anyone guilty merely because an allegation has been published. At the same time, NAPA believes that a serious allegation involving an alleged attempt to interfere with a rape case cannot be dismissed as “politics” before the evidence is examined.The Punjab government should therefore welcome a credible investigation rather than allow the controversy to become another political shouting match.If the allegation is false, let the investigation establish it.If evidence supports the allegation, let the law take its course.
No victim should be silenced.No innocent person should be falsely accused.No political heavyweight should be above investigation.
