Delhi/Chandigarh/Jalandhar-June 21: Senior Congress leader and MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira today demanded the immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after sensational revelations allegedly exposed the fraudulent laboratories that had issued a report giving him a clean chit in the controversial video episode concerning the alleged disrespect (Beadabi) of Sikh Gurus.
Khaira said the latest developments have vindicated the stand consistently taken by him and countless members of the Sikh community that the so-called forensic report was nothing but a politically motivated exercise designed to protect Bhagwant Mann from public outrage and legal accountability.
“According to shocking information now in the public domain, Gurgaon Police have questioned the owners of the laboratories that prepared the report relied upon by the AAP government. These individuals have allegedly admitted on camera that they were paid money to prepare a false report. Even more serious are reports that investigators have recovered chats between the lab owners and a Punjab Police officer deputed in connection with procuring this report,” said Khaira.
He stated that if these allegations are established during investigation, it would amount to one of the gravest abuses of state machinery witnessed in Punjab’s recent history.
“The issue is not merely about a fake forensic report. It is about an attempt to deceive the Sikh community, mislead the people of Punjab and manipulate evidence to shield the Chief Minister in a matter involving the religious sentiments of millions of Sikh devotees worldwide,” Khaira said.
Questioning the silence of the AAP government, Khaira challenged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema to publicly deny the allegations.
Khaira said that Bhagwant Mann had completely lost the moral and constitutional authority to continue as Chief Minister if his government was found to have procured fabricated reports to protect him from allegations relating to the beadbi of Sikh Gurus.
Khaira asserted that no political office, however powerful, can be permitted to manipulate facts and misuse government machinery to escape accountability.
“The Sikh community and the people of Punjab deserve the truth. If a fake report was procured to shield Bhagwant Mann in a matter concerning the honour of our revered Gurus, then this is not merely a political scandal—it is a betrayal of public trust and an assault on the democratic and moral foundations of governance. Bhagwant Mann must resign immediately and face an impartial investigation,” Khaira concluded.
