Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh MLA Raises Questions on Legislative Process at Akal Takht Sahib

MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh

Amritsar-Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh delivered a detailed and pointed speech at Akal Takht Sahib, where he raised concerns about legislative functioning and the lack of transparency in law-making processes.

He stated that in several instances, draft bills and policy decisions are presented in the Assembly without sufficient time for review or discussion among members. According to him, this weakens democratic participation and reduces the ability of elected representatives to represent public concerns effectively.

He further remarked that many MLAs are unable to fully engage with legislative material due to procedural limitations, leading to questions about the effectiveness of the current system. His statement that legislators sometimes feel “blindfolded” in the process drew attention and sparked discussion among attendees.

Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh called for reforms that would ensure better access to information, stronger debate in the Assembly, and improved legislative transparency so that democracy functions in its true spirit.
