Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has rejected allegations of a paper leak in the recent government recruitment examination, maintaining that the examination process was conducted fairly and transparently. The Chief Minister said the state government has adopted strict measures to safeguard recruitment examinations and ensure that deserving candidates are selected solely on merit.
Responding to criticism from opposition parties, Mann asserted that allegations of widespread irregularities were being made without credible evidence and were aimed at creating confusion among job aspirants. He maintained that the government would not allow misinformation to undermine the confidence of Punjab’s youth in the recruitment process.
The Chief Minister said that if any individual is found to have violated examination rules or attempted to manipulate the recruitment process, strict legal action would be taken. However, he emphasised that isolated allegations should not be used to discredit the entire examination system or cast doubt on thousands of candidates who appeared honestly.
Mann also highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline recruitment procedures over the past four years, stating that vacancies across various departments have been filled through a transparent mechanism designed to reduce political interference and favouritism. He said the government’s objective remains to provide employment opportunities to qualified youth while maintaining the integrity of the selection process.
The paper leak controversy has triggered a political confrontation in Punjab, with opposition leaders demanding an independent investigation and greater transparency.
