AMRITSAR: Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla used the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami to reach out to residents with a message of peace, prosperity and communal harmony, visiting the ISKCON Temple at Vrindavan Garden on Loharka Road and offering prayers for the well-being of the people.
Aujla’s temple visit also brought several senior Congress figures together in Amritsar, including former Punjab minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka, Urban Congress President Saurabh Madan ‘Mithu’, Sanjeev Arora and other party leaders and colleagues.
The Congress MP said he prayed for the welfare of all and sought blessings for peace and prosperity across society. His Janmashtami message particularly emphasized mutual brotherhood and harmony, saying that the grace of Lord Krishna should bring happiness, peace and prosperity to every household.
A political message wrapped in a religious outreach
Coming from an elected representative of Amritsar, Aujla’s appearance at the temple carries significance beyond the religious occasion. Amritsar is a politically important constituency as well as a city known for its deep religious and cultural diversity.
By publicly joining devotees on Janmashtami and placing emphasis on brotherhood, Aujla projected a message of inclusive public engagement, while senior Congress leaders appearing alongside him gave the visit a distinctly political dimension.
The gathering also provided a public platform for the Congress leadership in Amritsar to appear together during an important religious festival.
Aujla extended Janmashtami greetings to the people and expressed hope that the festival would strengthen the bonds of peace, harmony and mutual respect.
