Majitha-Two former servicemen have been killed in separate incidents in Amritsar Rural’s Majitha-Ajnala border belt, adding to reports of daylight attacks, snatching and protests by residents seeking faster police action. Former Army man Sarabjit Singh Sabi was murdered in Kotla Gujjran, Majitha. In the other case, former serviceman Kuljit Singh Sandhu, husband of the sitting AAP sarpanch of Mehmad Mandrawala village in the Ajnala area, was found dead under mysterious circumstances after being missing for about two days. His body was recovered on Wednesday in Raval village near Ramdas in the Dera Baba Nanak area.Kuljit Singh had left home around 10.15 a.m. on 21 September to collect certificates from Fatehgarh Churian and did not return.
Relatives said his phone remained switched on for many hours and its location appeared in different places, including Kamalpur, Pandori and Kot Raizada. The family searched the area where the body was later found and said it had not been there the previous day; they also noted the body did not appear badly decomposed. They held a demonstration and alleged foul play, while questioning why he was not traced sooner.Police first registered a missing-person case on Tuesday. After the body was recovered they added a murder charge against unidentified persons. Ajnala DSP Inderjit Singh said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report. The body was taken into custody and a probe begun, including examination of phone and location data. No arrests have been publicly reported.
Far less official detail is available on the Kotla Gujjran murder of Sarabjit Singh Sabi.
