SAN JOSE, Calif.: Indian origin Driver Anuj Kumar who worked as a ride-hailing driver has been arrested by San Jose police after a juvenile passenger reported being sexually assaulted during a ride, authorities said.Police officers responded at approximately 10:40 p.m. on September 12 to a report of a sexual assault. According to investigators, the alleged incident had occurred earlier that evening.The juvenile told police that the driver had sexually assaulted him. Investigators subsequently identified the driver as Anuj Kumar of Foster City.
Kumar was arrested on September 13 with assistance from Foster City police and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor.Police said detectives assigned to the San Jose Police Department’s Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit believe there could be additional victims. Investigators are therefore asking anyone who may have information about Kumar or similar incidents to contact police.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.
