LONDON: Labour MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi has stepped up campaigning for Labour candidate Sagal Abdirahman ahead of the upcoming Holborn and St Pancras by-election.
Dhesi said he was out campaigning alongside local Labour activists, knocking on doors and speaking with residents in the constituency. According to his social-media post, the campaign focused on listening to local residents and their concerns ahead of polling day.
Dhesi described Abdirahman as a “fantastic local Labour candidate” and urged voters to support Labour in the by-election scheduled for 8 October.
The campaigning highlights the Labour Party’s effort to mobilise its local organisation and activists ahead of the contest. Dhesi’s participation also brings the support of a sitting Labour MP to Abdirahman’s campaign.
The Holborn and St Pancras contest is taking place against the backdrop of local political issues and voter concerns. Candidates and parties are expected to use the campaign period to present their priorities and engage directly with residents.
Dhesi’s message was straightforward: after meeting residents and hearing their concerns, he encouraged them to cast their ballot for Labour on October 8.
