BREAKING NEWS: Three Suspects Wanted in Kidnapping and Murder of Tracy Sikh Father

TRACY, CALIFORNIA — Authorities have launched a nationwide search for three men indicted in connection with the kidnapping and killing of Avtar Singh, a 57-year-old father who was abducted from a Sikh temple in Tracy, California, in February. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI announced Wednesday, September 30, that the three suspects have been identified and are considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating them, with a $50,000 reward offered for information leading to their arrests.

Investigators say the killing appears to have been a devastating case of mistaken identity. According to authorities, the kidnappers were allegedly looking for another individual in Canada who had been threatened in connection with a stolen cargo trailer. Singh, investigators say, was mistakenly identified as the intended target.

Singh was abducted in broad daylight on February 17, 2026, from a Sikh temple in Tracy. His disappearance left behind his family, including his newborn triplets. Investigators later found his body three days after the kidnapping near Lake Berryessa in Napa County.

The suspects identified by authorities are Alberto Alencastro, also known as Alberto Alonso Alencastro, 25; Alfonso Segura, also known as Alfonso Cresencio Segura Arellano, 20; and Barnabe Segura, also known as Barnabe Antonio Segura Arellano, 22.

Authorities say all three men are from the Vallejo area and have connections to Mexico. Investigators have urged members of the public not to approach the suspects because they are considered dangerous.

The case has shocked the Sikh community in California because Singh was allegedly taken from a place of worship in broad daylight and was apparently not the person the kidnappers intended to target.

The investigation remains active as federal and local authorities continue efforts to locate the three indicted suspects. Officials are asking anyone with information about their whereabouts or the circumstances surrounding Singh’s kidnapping and death to contact law enforcement.

The authorities’ identification of the three men and the allegations against them are part of an ongoing criminal case; the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
