New Delhi – Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that major drug trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh has been brought back from Turkey. Describing this as a historic achievement of the Modi government, he posted on ‘X’ that Navpreet Singh had obtained Turkish citizenship under the alias ‘Nawab Virk’ and continued to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine from Afghanistan into India.

Shah stated that our agencies tracked him down, peeled back the layers to reveal his true identity, and ensured his deportation. Today, he has been brought back to India and sent to jail in connection with the charges of drug trafficking and other offences levelled against him.

Congratulations to all the agencies for this success. He stated that the Modi government is committed to dismantling every drug trafficking ring (narco-cartel) before December 2029. Notably, following this announcement, Navpreet was produced before a Delhi court, where he was remanded to 10 days of police custody.PTI Input
