Chandigarh (Sandeep Singh Chahal): Senior journalist and former MLA Kanwar Sandhu has sharply criticised Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that his continuation in office has become “untenable” in light of multiple allegations being raised by political leaders and ongoing controversy involving a video-related row.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Sandhu referred to allegations made by various leaders and cited the roles of certain officials of the Haryana Police and the Punjab Police in connection with the matter currently under scrutiny. He suggested that the seriousness of the allegations warranted a clear and transparent response from the Chief Minister.
Sandhu stated that the Chief Minister must either publicly rebut the allegations with credible evidence or consider stepping down from the post. According to him, the current situation raises serious questions about accountability and governance in Punjab.
“The continuation of Bhagwant Mann as Chief Minister of Punjab is untenable. He should either rebut all allegations with credible proof and evidence or quit,” Sandhu wrote, adding that the matter also deserves attention from religious authorities, including the Akal Takht Sahib.
His remarks have added to the ongoing political debate surrounding the controversy, which has already drawn reactions from various political quarters and intensified scrutiny over administrative conduct and inter-state police coordination.
Political observers note that such statements from a senior journalist and former legislator further escalate pressure on the Punjab government, which is already facing opposition criticism over governance, law and order, and internal administrative controversies.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office regarding Kanwar Sandhu’s remarks. The issue continues to develop as political parties and stakeholders await further clarification on the allegations and related investigations.
