Chandigarh(Sandeep Singh Chahal): Senior Congress leader and MLA Pargat Singh launched a sharp attack on the Punjab Chief Minister, accusing him of displaying arrogance and a lack of accountability while alleging that his conduct mirrors what he described as the BJP’s politics of religious polarisation.
In a post shared on social media, Pargat Singh said the Chief Minister lacks sincerity, humility, and a sense of responsibility toward the people of Punjab. According to the Congress MLA, the state leadership has increasingly become disconnected from public concerns and has failed to demonstrate the qualities expected from those holding high public office.
“The Chief Minister has no sincerity, no humility, no responsibility only arrogance,” Pargat Singh wrote, criticizing what he termed an attitude of indifference toward the challenges facing the state.
The former Indian hockey captain further alleged that such a mindset reflects a broader political culture that thrives on division and confrontation. He claimed that the approach is similar to what opposition parties have often criticized as the BJP’s politics of hatred and religious polarization.
Pargat Singh’s remarks come amid ongoing political exchanges between the Congress, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over governance, law and order, religious issues, and Punjab’s economic challenges.
The Congress leader has been a vocal critic of the Punjab government on a range of issues, including unemployment, education, fiscal management, and what he describes as the government’s failure to address public grievances effectively. His latest comments add to the growing political rhetoric as parties intensify their attacks on one another ahead of future electoral battles in the state.
While the Chief Minister’s office did not immediately respond to Pargat Singh’s statement, political observers view the remarks as part of the continuing war of words between opposition leaders and the state government.
The exchange highlights the increasingly charged political atmosphere in Punjab, where issues relating to governance, religion, and public accountability continue to dominate public discourse.
