MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh Appears in Mohali Court, Vows to Continue Fight Against Gangsterism and Extortion

Amritsar  ( Punjab Outlook News Report)North MLA and former IPS officer Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said he appeared before the Mohali Sessions Court to testify in a sensitive case involving gangsterism, extortion and an alleged nexus between gangsters and jail officials. According to Singh, the case was investigated by him and his team when he was serving as a police officer.

Singh stated that although he had resigned from the police department, his commitment to fighting crime, gangsterism, extortion and injustice remained unchanged. He said he would continue to stand by his principles and work towards cleaning up the system.

Taking a strong swipe at the Punjab government, Singh alleged that a government which came to power promising action against gangsters had instead allowed gangsterism and extortion to spread across the state. He also recalled that during the election campaign, people had projected him as a fearless police officer who could tackle organised crime, but he was subsequently sidelined.

Singh further raised concerns over the alleged conduct of police officials, claiming that interviews of gangsters such as Lawrence Bishnoi had been conducted for national television channels from police stations under police protection. These allegations require examination by the appropriate authorities.

Concluding his statement, Singh said his struggle against organised crime and corruption would continue and that he remained determined to bring fundamental changes to the system.

His remarks have once again brought attention to concerns over extortion, organised crime and accountability within Punjab’s law-enforcement system. The allegations made by Singh should be assessed on the basis of evidence and any official findings.
