Speaking to reporters here today, Mr. Sidhu said that the constituency MLA Kulwant Singh is so scared of his clear defeat in the next election that he is threatening these homeless people by saying that they will not be able to build houses on these plots unless they guarantee to vote in the next election. He said that in Kurra and Raipur they have also filed false cases against people in this matter. He further said that this oppression of the poor is a very reprehensible act.
The former minister said that Kulwant Singh is also misleading the poor people by saying that the Aam Aadmi Party has given five-by-five plots to the homeless people in Halke villages. He showed the government record of allotment of five-five-marle plots in January 2022 to 70 people of Halka village Baliali and said that Halka MLAs are now promoting that these plots have been given by the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Mr. Sidhu said that the Congress party has always been committed to the welfare and upliftment of the poor section of the society. He said that it was with this intention that the previous Congress government had made a policy of giving five-by-five plots from Panchayat ki Shamlat Zameen to homeless people living in villages on October 1, 2021, under which these plots were allotted and firm charters were given.
The former Health Minister said that instead of continuing this policy, the Aam Aadmi Party government has adopted the anti-poor path of not building houses even on allotted plots. He said that this push being done by the Halke MLA to the poor class will not be tolerated and all possible help will be given to the allottees in building houses.
