NAPA Strong Condemnation of Insulting Poster Targeting Sikh Faith

The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) strongly condemns the circulation of a highly objectionable and provocative poster on social media that grossly insults the Sikh faith and disrespects Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), the holiest shrine of Sikhism. Such imagery is deeply offensive to Sikhs worldwide and amounts to a deliberate attempt to hurt religious sentiments and disturb communal harmony.

This kind of content is not a matter of political criticism or free expression; it crosses all ethical and moral boundaries by mocking sacred religious symbols. Sri Harmandir Sahib is not just a historical monument but the spiritual center of the Sikh faith, revered by millions across the globe. Any attempt to portray it in a derogatory or defamatory manner is unacceptable and must be treated as a serious offence.

NAPA believes that the creation and circulation of such posters reflect a dangerous mindset that seeks to polarize society and provoke religious communities. In a pluralistic and democratic society, respect for all religions is non-negotiable. Targeting a faith for political point-scoring or propaganda sets a very harmful precedent.

We strongly urge the Government and concerned law enforcement agencies to take immediate and strict action against those responsible for creating and sharing this offensive material. The culprits must be identified and prosecuted under relevant sections of the law to ensure accountability and to deter similar acts in the future.

The North American Punjabi Association stands firmly with the Sikh community and reiterates that any insult to Sikh faith, Sikh institutions, or Sikh sentiments will not be tolerated at any level. Silence or inaction in such matters only emboldens those who seek to spread hatred. Respect, responsibility, and rule of law must prevail.
