UK MP Preet Kaur Gill Visits Punjab, Offers Prayers at Darbar Sahib

Amritsar-Preet Kaur Gill, a prominent British Sikh MP, is currently on a visit to Punjab, where she paid obeisance at the sacred Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. During her visit to the holy shrine, Gill offered prayers and expressed gratitude to the Guru Granth Sahib for her achievements and continued journey in public service. The visit was both spiritual and symbolic, reflecting her deep-rooted connection with Punjab and the Sikh faith despite her political role in the United Kingdom.

In her message, the UK MP said she prayed not only for personal blessings but also for broader global and diplomatic concerns. She highlighted her hopes for the success of ongoing India–UK trade negotiations and partnerships, emphasising the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations. Gill also expressed concern over rising global tensions, particularly referring to the situation in Iran, and prayed for peace and an end to conflicts worldwide.

Her visit comes at a time when international cooperation and diaspora engagement are increasingly significant in shaping economic and cultural relations between countries. As one of the most prominent Sikh voices in British politics, Gill’s presence in Punjab carries both emotional and diplomatic weight.

Gill also extended her gratitude to the leadership of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for honouring her during the visit. The SGPC, which manages Sikh gurdwaras including the Golden Temple, acknowledged her contributions and welcomed her warmly.

The visit underscores the enduring bond between the Sikh diaspora and their spiritual homeland, while also highlighting the growing role of international leaders of Punjabi origin in fostering global dialogue, peace, and cooperation.
