CHANDIGARH: Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira has raised questions over the alleged use of a Chandigarh government residence and sought an explanation from Aam Aadmi Party Punjab co-in-charge Gayatri Bishnoi regarding her presence at the property.
In a post addressed to Bishnoi on social media, Khaira asked whether she meets AAP workers at the government residence of Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh or at House No. 960 in Sector 39, Chandigarh, which he claimed is a government residence officially associated with Punjab Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, but is allegedly being used by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia.
Khaira specifically referred to a woman appearing in a video and questioned whether the location shown in the footage was House No. 960. He also pointed to what he described as a certificate bearing Manish Sisodia’s name visible in the background, using it as part of his request for clarification.
“Please tell the truth,” Khaira wrote while tagging Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Delhi AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress and BJP leaders.
The allegations come amid heightened political controversy over the use of Punjab government properties by senior AAP leaders from outside Punjab. Recent reporting has separately focused on government accommodation in Chandigarh’s Sector 39. India Today reported earlier this week that Punjab teachers planned a protest outside Sisodia’s residence in Sector 39.
The issue has also surfaced in the ongoing GMADA controversy. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that senior AAP leaders held unofficial meetings with GMADA officials and that government files were taken to a Sector 39 residence for such meetings. AAP has rejected the allegations as politically motivated and denied that Sisodia or Satyendar Jain had any role in GMADA’s official functioning.
Importantly, the specific claims made by Khaira regarding House No. 960, Gayatri Bishnoi’s presence, and the identity or status of the residence shown in the video remain allegations and have not been independently established by the sources reviewed for this report.
The controversy therefore raises questions about the allocation and use of Punjab government accommodation, the access of political functionaries to such properties, and whether government residences are being used for political meetings. Khaira’s post puts the immediate focus on Bishnoi, seeking a public clarification about the location and circumstances shown in the video
