After the arrest of Gurjeet Singh Virk Second Suspect arrested in Peel Region’s Project Tail Light Auto Theft Investigation

Mississauga, Ontario: Peel Regional Police have arrested the second suspect wanted in connection with Project Tail Light, a major investigation into a series of vehicle thefts targeting underground residential parking garages in Mississauga.
The investigation began in May 2026 after police identified a pattern of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in underground parking garages near Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road East. Several vehicles were stolen, while others were extensively damaged during unsuccessful theft attempts.
In response, investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) launched Project Tail Light to identify those responsible and disrupt the organized criminal activity. The investigation relied on extensive video surveillance analysis, Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology, Body-Worn Camera footage, and information gathered through community outreach, leading investigators to identify two suspects.
Police executed search warrants at residences in Mississauga and Erin, Ontario, where officers seized several cellular phones, vehicle key fobs, key-programming devices, vehicle-related documents, and approximately $1,465 in cash, believed to be proceeds of crime.
Earlier in the investigation, Prince, a 21-year-old man from Mississauga, was arrested on June 26, 2026, and charged with 22 criminal offences. He was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
On July 9, 2026, Gurjeet Singh Virk, a 23-year-old resident of Erin, surrendered to police after an arrest warrant had been issued against him. He has been charged with multiple offences, including:
