Gurjeet Singh Virk named in Mississauga Case,Major auto theft Investigation Leads to 44 Charges

A major auto theft investigation in Mississauga has resulted in multiple charges against one suspect and a Canada-wide warrant for a second man, following a series of organized vehicle thefts targeting residential underground parking garages.

The investigation, led by the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Peel Regional Police, focused on a wave of thefts and attempted thefts reported in May 2026 in the area of Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road East in Mississauga, Ontario. Several vehicles were stolen during the incidents, while others were damaged in failed attempts.

Police say the operation, named Project Tail Light, was launched to identify and disrupt those responsible. Investigators used video surveillance analysis, Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR), Body-Worn Camera footage, and community intelligence to identify two suspects.

Search warrants executed at residences in Mississauga and Erin, Ontario, led to the seizure of multiple cellular phones, key fobs, vehicle programming devices, vehicle-related documents, and approximately $1,465 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

One of the accused, a 21-year-old Mississauga man identified as “Prince,” has been charged with 22 criminal offences, including multiple counts of motor vehicle theft, possession of break-in instruments, mischief over $5,000, theft-related offences, and fraud. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

A warrant has also been issued for Gurjeet Singh Virk in connection with 22 related charges. Police say Virk is described as a South Asian male, approximately 5’10” tall, with a medium build, short curly black hair, and brown eyes.

Investigators have urged Virk to surrender to the nearest police station. Authorities emphasize that the investigation remains active, with forensic analysis of seized evidence ongoing and further suspects potentially under review.
