NAPA Condemns Abduction of Ludhiana Woman at Gunpoint

San Francisco/California — North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) executive director Satnam Singh Chahal has strongly condemned the shocking incident in which an NRI from Bhalur village in Moga district and his accomplices allegedly abducted a woman at gunpoint from Jaswant Enclave in Mundian Kalan, Ludhiana.

In a statement issued today, Chahal said that such incidents are creating fear and insecurity among the people of Punjab and damaging the image of the state internationally. He said it is extremely disturbing that criminals are openly using weapons and taking the law into their own hands in residential areas. He added that strict and immediate action must be taken against all those accused involved in the case so that no one feels above the law.

Chahal stated that Punjab has already been facing serious concerns regarding law and order, and incidents involving NRIs and organised criminal elements further deepen public anxiety. He urged the Punjab government and police authorities to ensure a speedy investigation and exemplary punishment for the culprits.

The NAPA leader also expressed concern for the safety of women in Punjab and said that incidents of abduction and violence against women must be treated with zero tolerance. He appealed to law enforcement agencies to strengthen preventive policing and intelligence networks to stop such crimes before they occur.

Chahal further said that overseas Punjabis closely monitor developments in Punjab, and repeated incidents of violence discourage investment, social trust, and confidence among the global Punjabi community. He demanded that the government restore public confidence by taking visible and effective measures against criminal networks operating in the state.
