BRAMPTON, ONTARIO — A former Brampton lawyer whose licence was revoked by the Law Society Tribunal of Ontario has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged series of mortgage and cheque fraud schemes involving approximately $4.3 million in losses, according to Peel Regional Police.
Pawanjeet Singh Mann, 52, of Brampton, was arrested on August 21, 2026, following an investigation by the Peel Regional Police Fraud Bureau into multiple complaints alleging fraudulent activity involving trust accounts and legal transactions in the Region of Peel.
Police said the investigation began after the Fraud Bureau received several complaints between June and July alleging that Mann had engaged in fraudulent activities. The investigation, formally initiated in August, allegedly uncovered four separate mortgage and cheque fraud schemes that resulted in approximately $4.3 million in losses to victims.
Mann has been charged with four counts of Fraud Over $5,000, four counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, three counts of Criminal Breach of Trust and two counts of Uttering Forged Documents.
The charges are allegations, and Mann is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
The police investigation follows disciplinary proceedings involving Mann before the Law Society Tribunal of Ontario. In July 2025, the tribunal revoked his licence after finding that he had knowingly participated in a mortgage fraud scheme in late 2019 while operating PJ Mann Law Professional Corporation.
Peel Regional Police said investigators believe there could be additional victims who have not yet come forward. Individuals who believe they may have been affected, or anyone with information that could assist the investigation, are being urged to contact the Fraud Bureau at 905-453-2121, extension 3335.
Police are encouraging anyone who may have information related to the alleged schemes to come forward as the investigation continues.
