Senior Congress leader MLA Pargat Singh Raises Alarm Over Alleged BJP Backdoor Entry into Punjab’s Rajya Sabha

Former Minister and MLA Pargat Singh

Jalandhar Cantt(Sandeep Singh) Former Punjab minister and MLA Pargat Singh has stirred a fresh political debate with his strong remarks regarding the changing political alignment of Punjab’s representation in the Rajya Sabha. In a statement shared publicly, Pargat Singh highlighted what he described as a “calculated political design” that has allegedly allowed the Bharatiya Janata Party to gain indirect influence in Punjab despite lacking direct electoral acceptance in the state.

Referring to the historic outcome of the Farmers’ Protest 2020–2021, Pargat Singh asserted that Punjab had decisively rejected the BJP’s policies and political approach. According to him, the mass mobilisation of farmers not only forced policy reconsiderations but also demonstrated that the BJP could neither secure widespread public support nor independently win a Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab.

However, he expressed concern that recent developments tell a different story. Citing approval from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, he claimed that six out of seven members representing Punjab are now officially aligned with the BJP in one form or another. He suggested that what could not be achieved through direct electoral means has been accomplished through indirect political manoeuvring.

Pargat Singh further alleged the involvement of what he termed an “A-team” and “B-team” strategy—implying that certain political actors may have facilitated this shift behind the scenes. Without naming individuals directly, his remarks appear to question the role of various political formations and alliances operating within Punjab’s current political landscape.

Calling for public awareness, Pargat Singh urged the people of Punjab to remain vigilant and closely observe these developments. He emphasized that such patterns could have long-term implications for the state’s political autonomy and representation at the national level.

The statement has added fuel to the ongoing political discourse in Punjab, where questions around party loyalty, ideological alignment, and electoral mandate continue to dominate public debate.
