Preet Kaur Gill MP Welcomes Mayor’s £300,000 Boost for Local Markets

London-West Midlands Labour MP Preet Kaur Gill has welcomed a £300,000 investment by Mayor Richard Parker aimed at revitalising street markets and boosting high streets across the region.

Gill said she was “delighted” with the Mayor’s Market Fund, which she believes will put “the buzz back into market days” while helping local economies to thrive.

The support package, part of Parker’s Growth Plan, will provide free or discounted trial stalls for new entrepreneurs, giving aspiring small-business owners the chance to establish themselves. Shoppers will also benefit through improved facilities and a greater variety of stalls.

“Street markets have been the bustling heart of our towns and cities for centuries,” Gill said. “It is right that we help our local economies to thrive.”
