NAPA Stands in Solidarity with 1158 Struggling Professors of Punjab

The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal strongly extends its support to the ongoing struggle of 1158 professors in Punjab who have been fighting for their genuine demands for a very long time. These professors, who have dedicated their lives to the cause of education, are not seeking undue benefits, but rather fairness, dignity, and recognition for their immense contributions to society.

It is extremely disheartening that highly qualified educators, who should be in classrooms shaping the future of Punjab’s youth, are being forced to stage protests to seek justice. When professors, who are the backbone of higher education, are ignored and left unheard, it not only demoralizes them but also weakens the very foundation of the education system in Punjab.

The demands of these professors are both reasonable and urgent. They include issues such as service regularization, proper salaries, job security, and respect for commitments already made by successive governments. The delay in addressing these concerns is not only unjust to the professors but also harmful to thousands of students who look up to them for guidance and knowledge.

NAPA urges the Punjab government to immediately fulfil the rightful demands of the 1158 professors without any further delay. A society cannot progress when it disrespects its teachers, and Punjab cannot afford to compromise on the future of its youth by neglecting the educators who prepare them for tomorrow.

NAPA calls upon all sections of society, especially the intellectual community, students, and parents, to stand shoulder to shoulder with these professors in their struggle for justice. Supporting them is not just about their rights—it is about safeguarding the dignity of education itself.
