Chandigarh :The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has expressed deep outrage and condemnation over the shocking reports emerging from Sindh Pakistan, where three young Hindu girls—Saneha Kolhi, Meena Kolhi and Sanam Meghwar were allegedly abducted, pressured and converted to Islam against their will. These disturbing incidents, coming within a span of just five days, once again highlight the ongoing persecution of religious minorities in Pakistan, especially in Sindh Province where Hindu families are most vulnerable.
NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal said the news of teenage Hindu girls being kidnapped, brainwashed, converted and married off to older Muslim men under coercion reflects a complete collapse of law and order, human rights enforcement and judicial protection. Chahal stated that these actions are not “religious choices” but a crime against humanity, designed to terrorize minority families and erase their identity.
Chahal further pointed out that international agencies, human rights organisations and the United Nations have repeatedly documented how young Hindu, Sikh and Christian girls in Pakistan are targeted through intimidation, sexual violence, forced marriages and fabricated testimonies. He reminded that Pakistan’s rulers routinely make tall claims about minority protection, yet every year dozens of minor girls disappear from temples, schools and homes and reappear in madrassas under new Muslim names.
Calling it a shameful violation of women’s rights, NAPA demanded that the Government of Pakistan must immediately recover these girls, restore them to their families, and punish the abductors, clerics and political facilitators who routinely shelter such crimes. Chahal also urged international monitoring teams to visit Sindh, record victim statements, and ensure legal accountability.
“NAPA stands firmly with oppressed Hindu families of Sindh,” Chahal said. “A nation that cannot protect its daughters cannot speak of justice or democracy. Forced conversion is not faith it is fear, intimidation and barbarism.”
NAPA has appealed to the Indian government, US State Department and global human rights bodies to take notice and list forced religious conversion as a sanctioned human rights violation in Pakistan. Chahal reiterated that NAPA will continue to raise its voice for minority dignity, religious freedom and protection of girl-child rights across borders.
