Jalandhar-The Aam Aadmi Party’s decision to use 1,600 government buses—funded entirely by the state treasury—for a political rally raises serious questions about priorities and governance in Punjab. Beyond this misuse of public resources, there are several critical issues that every Punjabi deserves to know.
PRTC and Punbus are still awaiting ₹750 crore under the free travel scheme for women. Despite repeated assurances, these funds have not been released, leaving the transport corporations financially strained. At the same time, ₹10,500 crore in electricity subsidy arrears remain pending, creating additional pressure on the state’s already fragile financial system.
Various government departments are also waiting for ₹2,700 crore, which has not yet been disbursed. This delay affects essential public services and disrupts the functioning of key institutions. Meanwhile, PRTC employees have been forced to protest on the streets of Patiala. They have no salaries, no pensions, and no financial security—yet government buses are readily available for political rallies.
There is no money for people’s rights, but new slogans and staged performances are always ready for political events. This is not governance. This is the shameless exploitation and misuse of Punjab’s resources.
