Grays, Essex — In the aftermath of the tragic murder of Henry Nowak, UK Member of Parliament Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi has praised members of the local Sikh community in Grays for their compassionate response and outreach to the grieving family.
The incident, which has sparked concern and emotional reactions locally, also saw attempts by some individuals on social media to spread hatred and division. However, community leaders and residents from the Sikh community stepped forward to offer condolences and personal support to the victim’s family.
MP Dhesi highlighted the importance of such gestures, noting that moments of tragedy should bring people together rather than push them apart. He specifically commended the Grays Sikh community for standing in solidarity with the bereaved family and sharing in their grief.
“Mourning together and supporting one another, since we have #MoreInCommon than that which divides us,” Dhesi said, emphasizing unity, compassion, and shared humanity.
Local community representatives also reiterated that violence and tragedy should not be used as fuel for hatred or communal tension. Instead, they stressed the importance of mutual respect and understanding between all communities in the UK.
The response from Grays has been widely seen as an example of community cohesion, with residents supporting one another during a difficult and emotional time, while rejecting attempts to politicize or divide people along religious or ethnic lines.
