Major Singh in Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Organized Crime Investigation named by FBI Names

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has placed Major Singh on its wanted list over his alleged involvement in a transnational criminal organization that authorities say originated in Punjab, India, and later operated in the Los Angeles area and elsewhere in the United States.

According to the FBI’s Los Angeles office, Singh is wanted for his alleged role in a range of serious federal offenses, including a racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing in firearms without a license, conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances with intent to distribute, and distribution of controlled substances.

The FBI identifies the organization as the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Organized Crime Group, alleging that the network has transnational links and has operated across jurisdictions.

The development highlights the growing attention of U.S. law-enforcement agencies toward organized crime networks with alleged connections to Punjab and their activities in North America. While the FBI has publicly identified Singh as wanted, the allegations remain allegations unless and until proven in court.

The case also underlines how criminal investigations involving alleged transnational organizations can extend far beyond national borders. An organization originating in Punjab is alleged by U.S. authorities to have developed operational links in the Los Angeles area, bringing American federal agencies into the investigation.

The FBI is asking anyone with information concerning the case to contact their local FBI office, the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate, or submit information through the FBI’s official tip system.

For authorities, the message is clear: geographical distance does not necessarily provide protection when an alleged criminal network operates across international borders. For Punjab and the Punjabi diaspora, the case is another reminder of the serious scrutiny facing alleged transnational organized-crime networks with roots in the region.
