Akal Takht Questions DGPC’s Responsibility Over Police Entry into Gurdwara

Amritsar-Akal Takht has held the Delhi Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) responsible for protecting the sanctity of gurdwara premises, stating that the committee cannot escape its responsibility if police personnel entered the gurdwara.

“If the police entered the gurdwara premises, it was the responsibility of the gurdwara management to prevent such entry,” the statement attributed to Akal Takht says.

The statement places the responsibility of the gurdwara management under scrutiny following the controversy over police entry into religious premises during the recent developments in Delhi. It raises questions about what steps the DGPC took to protect the sanctity of the gurdwara and whether the management fulfilled its responsibilities during the incident.

The issue also raises a broader question about accountability. While the conduct of police personnel must be examined on the basis of verified evidence, the responsibility of the DGPC to safeguard the religious premises and respond appropriately to any unauthorised entry also requires scrutiny.

The exact circumstances of the incident, including the location of the police entry and the actions taken by the management, should be established before any final conclusions are drawn.
