In our opinion, Khalsa Aid has earned worldwide recognition for its humanitarian work and disaster relief efforts across different countries. The Sikh community has generously supported the organization through donations with the belief that it will serve humanity wherever help is needed.
However, many members of the community feel that greater attention should also be given to the poor, underprivileged, and needy people of Punjab. While international humanitarian work is important, there are numerous families in Punjab facing poverty, unemployment, health challenges, and social hardships who could benefit from additional support and assistance.
Many donors contribute with the expectation that a significant portion of resources will also be utilized to address pressing local issues affecting Punjab’s villages and towns. Therefore, Khalsa Aid may wish to consider expanding its programs within Punjab and increasing transparency about how donations are allocated between international and local projects.
The spirit of Sikh seva (selfless service) teaches us to help all humanity without discrimination. At the same time, it is natural for community members to hope that the needs of vulnerable people in Punjab receive adequate attention alongside humanitarian efforts elsewhere.
Constructive dialogue between donors, community leaders, and Khalsa Aid can help ensure that charitable resources are used effectively and in a manner that reflects the expectations and concerns of the wider community.
