In a remarkable show of solidarity with the nation’s youth, S. Pargat Singh, MLA and former Cabinet Minister of Punjab, today attended the Youth Half Marathon 2026 in Jammu, an event organized by the Indian Youth Congress to promote fitness, discipline, and a drug-free future for young people across India.
Speaking at the event, Pargat Singh emphasized that the marathon was far more than a sports activity. He called it a collective stand against the rising menace of drugs, highlighting the urgent need to protect young minds from addiction and destructive habits.
He noted that fitness, sportsmanship, and positive engagement are essential tools for empowering youth and steering them away from harmful influences. “This run is not about competition—it is about unity, purpose, and a shared commitment to building a healthier and stronger India,” he stated.
The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of young runners, showcasing the vibrant energy and determination of India’s emerging generation. The Indian Youth Congress leadership praised the presence of Pargat Singh, himself a celebrated former hockey Olympian, saying that his participation inspired many young athletes.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge to fight drugs, promote healthy lifestyles, and channel the potential of youth toward nation-building, social responsibility, and discipline
