Punjab Deserves Facts, Not Political Storms: The Real Question Is “Why Now?”-NAPA

The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) Executive Director, Satnam Singh Chahal in a press release issued here today, said that the biggest question facing Punjab today is not what allegedly happened eight or ten years ago. The real question being asked by ordinary Punjabis is: If these allegations, videos, or claims have existed for so many years, why have they suddenly become the centre of a massive political and social media campaign today?

Across social media platforms, Punjab is witnessing an unprecedented flood of allegations, viral videos, edited clips, memes, and emotionally charged commentary. Many individuals have already reached conclusions and delivered their verdicts without any independent investigation or presentation of verifiable evidence. At the same time, a growing number of people are asking a simple but important question: Can allegations alone be treated as proof?

NAPA is concerned about the increasing tendency to conduct public trials on social media. In a democratic society governed by the rule of law, accusations must be examined through facts, evidence, transparency, and due process not through hashtags, online campaigns, or political narratives. Public opinion is important, but it should never replace factual scrutiny and objective investigation.

What makes the current controversy even more intriguing is its timing. Citizens are observing how old allegations have suddenly resurfaced with extraordinary intensity. Many are questioning whether this is merely coincidence, political strategy, organized campaigning, or an attempt to shape public perception at a critical moment. The people of Punjab have every right to ask who benefits from the sudden revival of issues that remained dormant for years.

NAPA also notes that certain pictures, stories, and narratives are reportedly being amplified from sources outside Punjab and even beyond India’s borders. Whether these efforts are intended to influence public opinion or simply represent independent commentary is for the public to evaluate. However, the coordinated nature of some of these campaigns raises legitimate questions that deserve careful examination.

Punjab has a proud history of political awareness and independent thinking. Punjabis have repeatedly demonstrated that they are capable of distinguishing between genuine concerns and politically motivated distractions. Rather than being carried away by emotions, the people of Punjab are increasingly demanding evidence, accountability, and truth.

The North American Punjabi Association firmly believes that truth is not determined by the number of shares, likes, comments, or trending hashtags. Truth is established through facts. Evidence not emotion must remain the foundation of public judgment. Political disagreements are natural in a democracy, but weaponizing unverified allegations to create social division serves neither Punjab nor its people.

Today, the public is no longer asking only what happened. The public is asking a much larger and more important question: Why now? Until that question is answered honestly and transparently, speculation and suspicion will continue to dominate the discussion.

Punjab deserves better than political theatrics. Punjab deserves facts, fairness, and accountability.
