Prof. Sarchand Singh, along with Dr. Ranbir Singh, met Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu in the presence of Shri Parminder Singh Sandhu and congratulated him on his new responsibility. They said this achievement is a matter of great pride for Amritsar and the Punjabi community at large. On the occasion, they held a thoughtful discussion on local political, social, and foreign affairs, sharing valuable insights about Punjabis in India and abroad, and also sought guidance from Mr. Sandhu.
In an official statement, Prof. Sarchand Singh said that Shri Sandhu had served as one of the most trusted diplomats of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. He earned a reputation as one of the most effective and sensitive envoys deployed by New Delhi on the strategic foreign policy front. Shri Sandhu served four diplomatic tenures in the United States, including three assignments in Washington D.C., where he significantly strengthened India-US relations. His foresight, seriousness, and nationalist outlook have helped transform Indo-US relations from strategic cooperation to a reliable and global partnership.
He further stated that it was due to Shri Sandhu’s hard work and crucial role that Prime Minister Modi’s US visits and the historic India visits of American Presidents Joe Biden and Donald Trump have set new milestones in global diplomacy. Today, the India-US strategic partnership not only spans trade, solar energy, and advanced technologies but also plays a central role in space, education, and defence. With strategic foresight, this partnership is becoming a model of global peace, development, and shared values.
Prof. Khiala emphasized that in his new role as Chairman of the Geopolitical Institute and Advisor to USISPF, Shri Sandhu will provide strategic direction on initiatives like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), the Indo-Pacific Quad, and the I2U2 grouping (India, Israel, USA, UAE). “I am confident that in this new role, Mr. Sandhu will further strengthen the vital relationship between India and the United States,” he added.
He noted that the USISPF has offices in Washington D.C. and New Delhi, and its members include top global corporations with a combined market capitalization exceeding $10 trillion and over 6 million employees. The Forum has long acted as a bridge fostering friendly ties between the public and private sectors of India and the United States.
